Smart Mass Transit Centered Development for Cupertino

I am a Cupertino resident and I support smart growth. From my perspective, smart growth includes rapid transit-centered development and a focus on a more walkable / bikeable community. Besides regional VTA busing, transportation in Cupertino is totally designed around the automobile. The city lacks a direct connection to Caltrain and BART. With Apple's new campus centralizing 12,000 employees in Cupertino, now more than ever, Cupertino needs to take control of its future. I w

What is Happening with the Retail Sector???

Every day since the beginning of this 2017 New Year, we are seeing worse and worse news about the retail sector. Some of the news is extremely concerning - not only are malls failing, but retail stores we've grown up with and counted on for years are shuttering hundreds of locations across the Country and / or declaring bankruptcy. We've been sharing on Facebook the articles from various media outlets and thought we'd aggregate just those we've come across from the beginning

My vote was to allow the City Council, Building and Planning Departments to do their jobs and not have a proposition tie their hands. We have these teams to assure compliance with environmental, safety, tax and other con

    Vallco Citizen's Advisory Lectures?

The City Council will vote this Tuesday evening, May 16, 2017 on a professional three-part lecture series on a range of development and planning topics in what is deemed a "Community-oriented process for a plan on Vallco". From the City Staff Report: "As an initial phase of the project, the recommendation is to begin with a speaker series. Speaker series are informational events that feature experts in the field who can provide information on key topics of interest to the com

SANTA CLARA COUNTY 3.0: On Sunday morning, if you need to get milk, do you have to get in your car?

If you could walk to the corner market, do you see that as desirable planning for our Community? LINK TO VIDEO PRESENTATION: https://youtu.be/mZf7mXu-Oe8?t=2523 There is the fundamental change that's occurring in our region’s demographics. As baby boomers are aging, the millennials are entering the workplace and their needs are not being met by our current Bay Area land-use planning. Cupertino is an aging community with a large stock of single-family homes built primarily aro
