An interesting article in the Mercury News points to a new report by ApartmentList.com that tracks rents nationwide. Here in Cupertino, renters pay way more than anyone else and their rents are going up faster than everyone else.
"Last month in Cupertino, rents were up 6.0 percent year-over-year to $4,020 for a one-bedroom and $5,040 for a two-bedroom. In Sunnyvale — close to Apple’s new spaceship campus — rents jumped 4.2 percent to $2,240 for a one-bedroom and $2,800 for a two-bedroom. "
A comparable median two bedroom apartment in Cupertino costs almost $2,000 in rent a month more than San Francisco, $2,500 more than San Jose, Los Gatos, and Mountain View.
